What is Perinatal Counselling?

‘Perinatal’ refers to the period between falling pregnant and up to two years after the birth of your child.
The transition into parenthood can be bumpy, with many twists and turns along the way. Getting pregnant, your birthing experience and those early months with baby may not look or feel how you expected them to.

If you or your partner are pregnant, or caring for an infant under the age of two years, you might be eligible to gain free counselling to support you with issues such as:

  • Perinatal anxiety and depression
  • Birth trauma
  • Relationship issues or changes since pregnancy or birth
  • Managing stress and difficulties of caring for an infant
  • Feelings of guilt or uncertainty about parenthood

Watch our short film about the perinatal counselling, narrated by the perinatal counselling team.

We offer eight one-to-one counselling sessions that can be taken online, in-person or over the telephone depending on your preference. Sessions run on Wednesdays and Thursdays during the daytime.

We also offer low-cost, general counselling for Greenwich residents and those living within a mile radius of Quaggy Children’s Centre.
