What is White Ribbon Day?
This Thursday 25th November is White Ribbon Day. Every year White Ribbon Day highlights the importance of speaking out on violence against women and girls. On this day and the 16 days after people are encouraged to wear a white ribbon to show support. Wearing the white ribbon means that you support not keeping silent and speaking out about violence on women and girls. Like all domestic abuse, domestic violence thrives in silence and the more we talk about it and say it is unacceptable the more awareness is raised and violence against women and girls becomes less likely. Take part by wearing a white ribbon and pledge that you will not stay silent. The day originated to encourage all men and boys to get involved by wearing the ribbon, but anyone can wear a ribbon and the more people that do will mean the more people know about this issue.
